Medications

Rezulti (brexpiprazole) is an antipsychotic medication. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain. It is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia. It is also used together with other medications to treat major depressive disorder in adults. (July 2015)

Vraylar (cariprazine) FDA announced the approval of a new drug for treating schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in adults. Vraylar was shown to reduce the symptoms of both disorders compared with placebo, and was fairly well tolerated, with the most commonly reported adverse reactions being extrapyramidal symptoms and restlessness (akathisia). Vraylar is one of the first antipsychotic medications shown to be effective in alleviating the negative symptoms of schizophrenia such as a lack of motivation or desire, making it an important new option for patients.
